Up early and downstairs to meet Louis Fisher to head out to Sturgis to meet up with a few of Louis vintage motorcycle buddies. One of which is Ken, the fella I mentioned earlier who will be taking our trailer to California.
An added bonus was we (well actually they) push started the Healey and I got to take a beautiful morning drive through the Black Hills. Once in Sturgis we met up with Ken and a guy named Rickie at a place for breakfast. As we walked into the place the waitress takes one look at these guys and she says, “Oh F*%$ no ”

About that time I am wondering what have I got myself into?
As it turns out they are all friends and the somewhat inflammatory greeting was her reaction to being overwhelmed with work. You see the cook didn’t show up that morning and she was doing the cooking, the waitressing and busing tables. After a short negotiation all parties agreed that us fellas should go to a different cafe, about 10 miles down the road. Problem solved.
At the next cafe the four of us met up with two more of Louis motorcycle buddies, Mike and Rusty. The food was great, but it came out a bit slow. The waitress confided in us that it was a new cook and he was slow. Hmm, could it be that we found the missing cook?
There was an instant rapport. We all started trading stories and tall tales without hesitation. How can that be? A city slicker hanging out with hardcore vintage Indian and Harley enthusiasts.
The answer is Louis. If I am a friend of Louis, then I am a friend of theirs and vis versa. Louis is a collector of many things, including people. It was a great morning.

And later that day I got to spend even more quality time with the Healey.

A car restorer and his wife see me working on the car and bring me some levitation and levity. They brought me a jack, jack stands and gave me a big chunk of their afternoon. The people participating in this event are so genuine, both in their words and their deeds. Thank you Dianne and Dan.

Later Diane (mine not Dan’s) joined me for a nice afternoon drive through the Black Hills.

It was a good day all in all. I would however say it was a bit of a disappointment when I learned that the UPS guy’s name wasn’t Tim. What a story that would have been.
Hi Jeff –
Who needs Tim when you’ve got so many Healey-friends and UPS? It’s good to read that everything is going well; and you can now start your car with the mere push of a button.
Stay safe and enjoy your adventure!
